How Do You Find Circumference When You Only Know the Area?
Sometimes the only number on hand is a circle's area, not its radius or diameter, for instance the square footage of a round patio without knowing how wide it actually is. In that case, work backward in two steps. First, find the radius by dividing the area by pi and taking the square root of that result. Then plug the radius into the usual circumference formula.
Take an area of 50 square inches as an example. Divide 50 by pi to get about 15.92, then take the square root to get a radius of roughly 3.99 inches. Multiply that radius by 2 and by pi and the circumference lands at about 25.07 inches.

Why Do Circumference Calculators Sometimes Give Slightly Different Answers?
Pi never ends. It is an irrational number, so its decimal digits keep going without settling into a repeating pattern, and no calculator can use every one of them.
